BFW Recordings and several artists got together to put an album out in a day: the artists had one day to compose their tracks with no pre-thought and then the netlabel had one day to put the album together and the next to release it. Sort of like that magazine that bombed this summer, let’s hope for a different result. Me, I’m going to give the album one listen and write my review as it goes along — trying to keep in the spirit of things. Interestingly enough, this is my first review on this blog where I don’t know the outcome.
At this point of the album, I’m half-way through it and listening to i AM esper’s “Listen and Glisten”, I have this to say. First there are no clunkers in the set which is hard to do with such a variety of music in the tracks. So far so good.
Almost done. I’ll definitely give this album a few more listens, because overall it is quite strong. This was a successful experiment and I hope BFW Recordings does it again and maybe even other netlabels. Like any good compilation album, there were artists I was familiar with and there were those that were new to me. Now, I get to investigate those that I’ve never heard of before.
So Album in a Day is wrapping up with Phillip Wilkerson’s “Saturday”. As promised, the review was written, hyperlinked and proofed while listening to it in one sitting.
