Half the battle of writing these little reviews is understanding that sometimes albums speak to me and other times they don’t. At one point I had passed over writing a review for Lowing, but 40-or-so days later, Alex Durlak’s foreboding work boxed my ears in and screamed, “Write about me, dumb-ass!” I honestly have no idea on why I passed on it earlier, but listening to it again, it was as if I had never listened to it before. Durlak’s Lowing is the dark inside world of a machine moving slowly towards you, always going to overtake you, always wrapping you in its gears, grease and drones. Total consumption.
