The Inventors of Aircraft - As It Is

Writing a review of the The Inventors of Aircraft‘s As It Is (Resting Bell) is really just a formality, because you should have already downloaded this album and listened to it several times. Seriously. As It Is begins their album with “A Way In”, a track with droning synths and the subtleness of glitches in the background. The Inventors of Aircraft are in fact Phil Tomsett, who released his debut album Unknown Language (Serien) two years ago. As It Is is an extremely soulful ambient release filled with lusciousness and warmth. Only coming in at just over a half-hour, Tomsett’s ability to construct such wonderful soundscapes in such a small space in a joy to listen to. My only problem with this album is that it looks like I’ll have to wait till September 2012 for another The Inventors of Aircraft release. I hope not.
