Sometimes I’m a bit late to the party, but this time I missed it completely. Clem Leek‘s Snow Tales (Experimedia) is simply gorgeous. Of course, I’ve heard about the album mentioned in tweets here and there, one tweep even listed it as one of the best albums of 2010. Finally, I lifted up my hand to the mouse and keyboard and downloaded it. Now my only regret is that I missed several months of listening to Snow Tales, however that is currently being rectified.
The opening track is quite sparse as Leek plays a beautiful piano composition over silence which is just as important to the track as the notes he is playing. It is in the second track that the field recordings and sound manipulations come in alongside the piano. Snow Tales is a short EP with 4 tracks and 1 remix, but all the way through, Leek keeps your interest. If you are a regular reader of this blog, then you know that there are many reasons to listen to Creative Commons / Netlabel music, add Snow Tales to that list.
