If you have any netlabel dub, chances are you have something from the discography of EugeneKha. But if you don’t have any dub work by EugeneKha, then you probably have other work by Evgenij V. Kharitonov, say something by Microbit Project or Nameless Dancers. If not — which I find difficult to believe —, then EugeneKha‘s Electric Dreadlocks (45rpm) is a great place to start. Anywho, I’ve digressed from the intention of this post which was to gab a bit about the dubbiness of Electric Dreadlocks. And even as great the first four tracks of this five track 20-minute work, it was the final track “The Smoked Dreadlocks (Foggy Collage)” (mp3) that captured me a listener. Yes, it was dub, but it was something more . . . maybe, just maybe this is what the liner notes referred to as Psychedelic Dub. Shrugs. Doesn’t matter what they call it, as long as it’s good.
