I count tatsu of Bump Foot as a musical friend, that is a friend who constantly recommends fantastic music for “me” to listen to. And tatsu does so again with the release of Jimmy Penguin’s Sean-Scéal (Bump Foot). Jimmy Penguin writes in the liner notes:
I use a lot of piano in my music, so I wanted to make an album that was based around piano compositions. Confined to the restrictions of writing mostly sample based music, this was an opportunity to explore different arrangement techniques and gave me more freedom in terms of scale and chord progression.
A DJ based in Galway, Ireland, Jimmy Penguin is quite prolific as an individual artist and as a member of the turntable quartet, Vince Mack Mahon. Though Sean-Scéal might be a step away from the previous work of Jimmy Penguin, it is only a slight step as the tracks are still tight, smart, brimming with beats, and filled with luscious sounds.
